Junior Church at St Andrew’s

We believe that our church has a key role to play in supporting parents and guardians in teaching the Christian faith to children. To do this we have a range of children’s groups that meet on Sunday mornings catering for children from pre-school to young teens.

Weekly Format

Every week we meet at St. Andrew’s Church Centre on Rogers Lane.
The service begins at 10:30am with everyone meeting together in the main hall. After 5-10 minutes the children depart for their own groups, according to the ages. The children remain in their groups until the service finishes, usually between 11:30 and 11:45am.

The Groups

Crèche

For children up to four years of age. A combination of play, songs and story-telling in a warm and welcoming environment make this an enjoyable part of the Sunday morning routine for our youngest children.

KiC (Kids in Christ) Bubbles

This group of four to ten year-olds combines games, craft activities and fun teaching. It looks at Bible
stories and uses games and craft activities alongside more structured teaching times, looking at how the Bible applies to us today. We think about things like not following the crowd, always doing what’s right, etc…

GRID

For those aged 11 to 14 there is GRID. The GRID group meets in the St. Andrew’s Youth Room. GRID is much more discussion based and looks at some of the issues that interest teenagers today.

Safety and Staffing

Each group is staffed by excellent children’s workers who will seek to present the Christian message in an exciting, age-appropriate and relevant way. The safety and well-being of the child is our first concern. We maintain an excellent staffing ratio and ensure that all our key leaders are checked by the CRB.

The Bigger Picture

We are part of the Church of England and of the Deanery of Burnham and Slough. We seek to play an active part in the wider church. We are also keen to encourage good co-operation across denominational boundaries as we seek to be part of God building his kingdom.
