Stoke Poges Men’s Group

A big welcome from the men’s group.  If you have not been to one of our events, then please read on to find out what you are missing!  During the year we run curry nights, dinners, Saturday morning breakfasts, activity evenings (skittles etc.) and visits to interesting venues.  There is something for everyone!  We are not an exclusive group but very inclusive and guys from a wide area (not just from Stoke Poges) come along to our events.  We are open to everyone – guys of all faiths and none are always given a very warm welcome.

At some of our events we invite a special guest who will give a talk on a specific topic, and during their talk they will usually share something of their Christian faith and how it has guided and influenced them during their lives.

Our group is affiliated to a UK organisation called Christian Vision for Men, who run an annual conference for men and support men’s groups throughout the UK.

Beer & Skittles Evening – Saturday 25th January 2014

Start your New Year with an evening of fun, food and relaxation, playing skittles (plus Pool, Air Hockey & Table Football).  We will be providing a Fish & Chip supper, delicious desserts, beer, lager and soft drinks, all for just £13.  The bar will open at 6:45pm and the first game starts at 7pm.  Everyone is welcome, Lads (10 years+), Dads and Granddads.  As usual, the venue will be the Main Hall in St. Andrews Centre, Rogers Lane, Stoke Poges.  This is always a popular event so book early as we have set a limit of 40 places.    For more details of this event and to book your place, contact Tony Shortman or Nigel Lowe (see above for contact details).

Men’s Breakfast – Saturday 22nd March 2014

The popular Crown Inn in Crown Lane, Farnham Royal, will again host our breakfast on 22nd March.  The usual cooked breakfast will be available in addition to the more healthy option (price £8).  We are delighted to welcome David McDougall as our speaker.  David is the vicar of a church in West London, a church which has seen considerable growth in the past few years (he is also an Area Dean).  He has a real heart for mission and has been leading mission work in the poorest parts of Africa.  He is also an author, producing books and material to help churches become more effectively equipped for mission and evangelism.  Why not put this date in your 2014 diary now and plan to join us for a great cooked breakfast and a stimulating and interesting talk.  For more details of this event and to book your place, contact Tony Shortman or Nigel Lowe (see above for contact details).

The Bigger Picture

We are part of the Church of England and of the Deanery of Burnham and Slough. We seek to play an active part in the wider church. We are also keen to encourage good co-operation across denominational boundaries as we seek to be part of God building his kingdom.
