Stoke Poges Men’s Group
The men’s group was formed in 2005 by St Giles’ and St Andrew’s Parish Churches and the Free Church of Stoke Poges. It runs social events for men, plus their friends and colleagues.
Six events are run each year including curry nights, dinners, Saturday morning breakfasts and Saturday day trips to interesting venues (Duxford Air Museum, Heritage Motor Centre, etc.).
Some of these events include a special guest who is invited to speak on a specific topic and to share how their Christian faith has guided and influenced them during their lives.
The group is affiliated to a UK organisation called Christian Vision for Men http://www.cvmen.org.uk, who run an annual conference for men and support Christian men’s groups throughout the UK.

Brewery Tour – Wednesday 18th July 2012
Just over two years ago, the new Windsor & Eton Brewery was opened and the ancient art of English brewing returned to Windsor after a break of 79 years. Come and join us for this great opportunity to visit a real ale brewery and taste the delights of the many ales they are now brewing. We will be leaving Stoke Poges around 7pm and on our arrival at the brewery we will be served with a fish and chips supper followed by a conducted tour of the brewery. During our visit there will be plenty of opportunities to sample their wide selection of ales.
Further details will be provided nearer the date of this event.
Men’s Dinner – Friday 23rd November 2012
The men’s group are returning to the Cavendish Suite at the Bellhouse Hotel (near Beaconsfield, on the A40) for our next Men’s Dinner on Friday 23rd November.
We are delighted to have as our speaker, Canon Michael Green, a man who has had a distinguished career and is one of the leading evangelists in the UK. He has written over 50 books including Springboard to faith, Thirty years that changed the world and Why bother with Jesus. Although he is now in his later years, he did admit that when he was younger, he had a fairly wild time and enjoyed such things as mild arson!
Please join us for another excellent buffet meal followed by an entertaining and interesting talk.
The evening will start at 7:15pm with drinks from the bar, then a delicious buffet meal at 8pm followed by Michael’s talk entitled “Wanted – real men”.
More details about this dinner will be provided nearer the time, but meanwhile, put this date in your diary now – this is an evening you will not want to miss.
